The Truth About Projector Recognition and Invitations

This series, called Navigating the Projector Path, is intended to explore and address the issues that Projectors face and help Projectors align with their Truth, step into their power, thrive as the full expression of themselves, and perform their vital global role of guiding the energy of others and creating and maintaining the quantum energy grid of the planet (thereby guiding the world!).

A Projector does not need recognition and invitations from others in order to feel good about themselves and about what they have to offer. Period.

They only need others in order to help make things happen or, even better, to contribute to things already happening, so Projectors can bring their immense brilliance and wisdom to help grow and improve those “things.”

If opportunities/invitations are not being offered for whatever reason, that in no way diminishes (or, in no way should diminish) the Projector’s sense of self and value. Getting the correct recognition and invitations may simply be a matter of positioning yourself well and then waiting for the right opportunities to show. Lack of recognition or invitations is NOT a judgment against you. [continue reading…]

Celebrity Chart: Wayne Dyer – powerful world influencer

(posted 2016/09/10)

Wayne DyerDr. Wayne Dyer, who passed in 2015, had a remarkable and lasting impact on our world particularly in the areas of self-help and spiritual growth. He was a Projector Type, and I had great fun looking at his chart (see Chart Review section below) to see what was in his inherent energetic design that he leveraged so effectively.

Wayne Walter Dyer (May 10, 1940 – August 30, 2015) was an American philosopher, author and motivational speaker. His first book, Your Erroneous Zones (1976), is one of the best-selling books of all time, with an estimated 35 million copies sold to date.

In addition to the many works he produced that are described below, he had three marriages, six children and 2 stepchildren. He was a busy guy!  [continue reading…]

Example of how Type & Strategy can make/break marriage & business [case study]

It’s easy for me to talk about the power of using Type and Strategy in our lives (I’m a bit biased, of course!), but it makes the most sense when we can hear how it really impacts other people in their lives.

So I thought I’d share a quick story with you about Karen and Sergio and how they used their Types and Strategies to improve their marriage (of 27 years) and their business.

When Karen came to me for a Reading, she was struggling. She and her husband run a gallery together… he is the artist and she manages the business.

  • She was worn out from the daily operations of being at the gallery every day
  • She wasn’t using her true brilliance for strategically increasing their business
  • They were irritated with each other from the whole process

First, we focused on her. She is a Manifestor so she is designed to initiate things and get the ball rolling, but not to do all the work of implementing and follow through.

As Karen learned her Type and Strategy, she realized that it wasn’t correct for her, energetically, to work “in” the gallery and she was much more effective (and happier) when she worked “on” the gallery with her innovative ideas.

So she started delegating more to their employee and spending less time there. And her husband, the artist, started spending more time in the gallery which felt good to him and the customers loved being able to meet and talk with the artist himself.

Their pattern for implementing ideas to grow the gallery’s business had been that she would enthusiastically share a new idea with him (maybe a new painting style, new subject matter, or different arrangement of the gallery), and he would begin the process of shifting his work and moving things around to implement her idea.

But within no time, she would have several new ideas and be eager to implement those instead. She’s a Manifestor so that approach of “throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks” is correct for her. She’s designed to have lots of ideas and start things.

But Sergio, who is a Projector, was exhausted from trying to keep up with her ideas. He had energetic whiplash from the speed of her frequent changes in direction! And it was a source of friction and frustration for both of them.

As they understood the dynamics of their different Types and Strategies, they realized that he could simply wait until some of her ideas “stuck to the wall” before he began implementing. And she agreed to “invite” him to implement an idea only when she felt good and clear about pursuing that particular idea.

They were so excited (and grateful) to have simple and sensible solutions to their issues. Their respective Types and Strategies were honored. And above all, the solutions felt inherently right to both of them.

Also, by her own admission, Karen said that the core Manifestor strategy of “informing before acting” had literally changed her life!

Now, they did both have personal Readings with me, plus a Relationship Reading, but here’s the point I want to drive home:

What had the greatest impact for them was simply knowing their basic Type and Strategy… which is ALL explained in my Success by TYPE courses.

Celebrity Chart: Joan Rivers–how she did it!

(posted 2014/12/16)

Here is a brief look at a celebrity’s Human Design chart using just a few of many aspects and layers of a chart. Our purpose here is to give you just a partial glimpse, through Human Design, into this person’s energy dynamics.

Joan Rivers – powerhouse of a Projector!

Birth: June 8, 1933 at 2:00am in Brooklyn, New York

Death: September 4, 2014 in Manhattan, New York, at age 81

I love looking at Human Design charts of famous people and making sense of their personalities and behaviors from their chart.  And in some cases, clearing up mysteries about them.  This is one of those “mystery” cases.  Here’s why.  I personally wasn’t a big fan of Joan Rivers’ style of humor but I always respected her and her long and successful career.  When she made her transition to nonphysical in Sept., I ran her chart just for fun.  I had assumed she was a Generator or Manifesting Generator because of her seemingly inexhaustible energy and long-sustaining career.

I was WRONG.

She was a Projector.  So then I got really interested in using her chart to understand HOW she had been so sustainable through nearly six decades of performing and being a very public figure.

Joan Rivers in 2010

Joan Rivers was a multi-talented comedienne, actress, and much more who performed for well over five decades.

She was in 27 films, wrote 12 books, and was in over 40 TV shows during 1968-2014 (some that ran for many years).

She also did theater work, including Broadway, and received many awards and nominations including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1989.

Below are more details about Joan, her Human Design chart, and my review of what her chart tells us about her extraordinarily productive life and career.

Joan’s Biography*

Joan Alexandra Molinsky, better known by her stage name Joan Rivers, was an American actress, comedienne, writer, producer, and television host. She was best known for her stand-up comedy and red carpet interviews, and for co-hosting the E! celebrity fashion show Fashion Police from 2010 to 2014, as well as starring in the reality series Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? alongside her daughter Melissa Rivers from 2011 to 2014. She often appeared on QVC shopping channel, selling jewelry and fashion items that she had created.

Rivers first came to prominence in 1965 as a guest on The Tonight Show, a late-night program with interviews and comedy, hosted by Johnny Carson, whom she acknowledged as her mentor. The show established her particular comic style; using self-deprecation and poking fun at celebrities, she would often joke about her extensive use of plastic surgery. When she launched a rival program in 1986, The Late Show with Joan Rivers, Carson never spoke to her again. She was the first woman to host her own late night talk show on network television. She later went on to host a successful daytime show, The Joan Rivers Show from 1989 to 1993, which won her a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host. Her outspoken commentary on celebrities and politics has often been criticized and stirred controversy.

She also authored 12 best-selling memoir and humor books and many comedy albums. She was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1984 for her album What Becomes a Semi-Legend Most? As an actress, Rivers was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play in 1994 for her performance of the title role in Sally Marr… and her escorts. In 2010, a documentary about her life, focusing on her work ethic, premiered titled Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work.

Style of humor

During her 55-year career as a comedian, her tough-talking style of satirical humor was both praised and criticized as being truthful, yet too personal, too gossipy, and very often abrasive. Nonetheless, with her ability to “tell it like it is,” she became a pioneer of contemporary stand-up comedy. Commenting about her style, she told biographer Gerald Nachman, “Maybe I started it. We’re a very gossipy culture. All we want to know now is private lives.”

Rivers accepted such criticism as part of her using social satire as a form of humor: “I’ve learned to have absolutely no regrets about any jokes I’ve ever done … You can tune me out, you can click me off, it’s OK. I am not going to bow to political correctness. But you do have to learn, if you want to be a satirist, you can’t be part of the party.”

In her personal life, however, fewer of those neurotic or intense character traits which viewers see on screen were displayed. Ralph Schoenstein, who dated her and worked with her on her humor books, states, “She has no airs. She doesn’t stand on ceremony. The woman has absolutely no pretense. She’ll tell you everything immediately. Joan isn’t cool—she’s completely open. It’s all grist. It’s her old thing–‘Can we talk?’”

In her book Bouncing Back (1997) Rivers described how she developed bulimia nervosa and contemplated suicide. Eventually she recovered with counseling and the support of her family.

Her Death

On August 28, 2014, Rivers experienced serious complications and stopped breathing during a surgical procedure on her vocal cords at a clinic in Manhattan. She died on September 4th.

Her funeral took place on September 7, 2014 at Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan. The private ceremony was attended by numerous public figures, including Whoopi Goldberg, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Griffin, Donald Trump, Rosie O’Donnell, Barbara Walters, Kelly Osbourne, Diane Sawyer. During the ceremony, actor Hugh Jackman sang, Broadway actress Audra McDonald performed, and talk show host Howard Stern delivered the eulogy. Stern described Rivers as “brassy in public, classy in private. . . a troublemaker, trail blazer, pioneer for comics everywhere, . . . fought the stereotypes that women can’t be funny.”

Quick Spotlight: Projector with Superpowers!

One of my clients is a 2-motors Projector, which means she has two Defined motor centers.

INFO TIP:  The four Energy Centers that are considered motors are: Will (also known as Heart or Ego), Emotional Solar Plexus, Sacral, and Root. Motor Centers provide energy for taking action. When a motor is connected, either directly or indirectly, to the Throat Center via a defined channel then that person is a Manifesting Generator (if their Sacral Center is defined) or a Manifestor (if their Sacral is open).

Projectors never have a Defined Sacral, but they can have from zero to three possible Defined Motors (the Will, Solar Plexus, and Root).

Motors DO make a difference in terms of a Projector’s energy levels. A no-motors Projector generally will tend to have less energy on a normal basis than a three-motors Projector, for example. But it still depends on the rest of the chart, whether the person loves what do they and loves their life, the conditioning they have in their Open Centers, and the people they are around.

As an example, Steven Spielberg, famous film director and producer, is a no-motors Projector who is extremely busy, productive and prolific. It can happen!

But back to my client. She is a 6/2 Projector in her 50’s with the Will and Solar Plexus motors defined and her Identity and Throat Centers also defined.

I think of her as having Superpowers because of the level of activity that she happily maintains in her life… and always has.

In high school she joined every after-school club. In college she held 3 jobs while going to school.

Then she was a fitness instructor for 20 years and did triathlons. She considers herself blessed with a strong constitution. I’ll say.

She and her husband have raised five children (one is still at home) and by her own admission she “works hard and plays hard.”

After 18 years of study and practice in the energy healing field, she created her very own style/modality 8 years before I met her and she was traveling the world teaching it and certifying students to practice it.

She likes to ride her bike for an hour a day (that’s her “alone” time) and she makes time for family every day too, though she admits that it’s hard for her to get to bed by midnight because she’s so busy.

Recently she was interviewed on more than 30 online telesummits, she’s is writing a book, and she’s is ready to “shake things up” in her business this year because she was getting a little bored.

WOW.  She clearly gets access to her two motors by being around other people!!

I encouraged her to pay attention to her energy and take breaks when she needs to. But I did NOT tell her to stop being so active. It’s working for her, and she said she has never burned out, so I believe in sticking with what works… but with an understanding of one’s basic energy pattern.

She did say that learning that she should wait to be invited (the Projector’s decision and action strategy) “feels like a relief!” I think she’s going to enjoy easing off the accelerator in her life and business just a little.

But we’re not supposed to hold back in life. If it ain’t broke…

Celebrity Chart: Arianna Huffington – lessons from a thriving Projector

(posted 2014/04/30)

Here is a brief look at a celebrity’s Human Design chart using just a few of many aspects and layers of a chart. Our purpose here is to give you just a partial glimpse, through Human Design, into this person’s energy dynamics.

Arianna Huffington

Birth: July 15, 1950 at 3:00pm in Athens, Greece

This extraordinarily successful and powerful woman in the world of news and global media is what we call in Human Design a “no motors” Projector Type. How does someone with supposedly “no inherent energy” of her own build a mega media brand in just a few years? What did it cost her? And what lessons and messages is she sharing now with the world? Let’s have a look.

  • Born in Greece
  • Attended Cambridge University in England, majored in Economics
  • Married to a U.S. Congressman, they have two daughters
  • Runs a global media company

Success of Huffington Post

  • Inspired by the importance and joy of conversation and of sharing thoughts, ideas, concerns and discoveries, in 2005 she created Huffington Post, a news and blog site that quickly became one of the most read and linked-to media brands on the Internet
  • As of 2014, she was chair, president and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group
  • She’s also a nationally syndicated columnist and author of 13 books
  • In 2012, the Huffington Post won a Pulitzer Prize for reporting; in 2013 Arianna was named to the Forbes Most Powerful Women List and has won numerous other awards and recognitions

Her transformational experience

  • In 2007 she had been working around the clock; she fainted from exhaustion in her home office and woke up in pool of blood
  • This caused her to redefine success for herself and ponder the question “What is a good life?”
  • She decided to create a national conversation about what makes life fulfilling and meaningful
  • Her recently published 14th book, Thrive, is about living a more mindful and meaningful life and defining success on our own terms; she also gives lectures and workshops on the topic

Her Chart

Arianna’s chart gives us a deep understanding of energy dynamics underlying her drive, her accomplishments, her burnout, and the lessons she has learned.

Quick Spotlight: Manifestor & Projector Relationship Dynamics

A couple came to me a few years ago for personal Readings then a Relationship Reading. She is a Manifestor and he is a Projector.

They were eager to learn how to improve their already loving marriage and also how to work together better. They own an art gallery–she runs it and he is the artist.

First of all, the day-to-day running of a business is not ideal for a Manifestor so after her Reading she began delegating more to their employee and taking some time off each week to manage her energy better and focus more on her brilliance—which was generating ideas for increasing their business.

Their pattern prior to their Readings was that she would enthusiastically share a new idea with him for the gallery (maybe a new painting style, subject matter, or arrangement of the gallery), and he would begin the process of shifting to align with and implement her idea. Within no time, she would have several new ideas and be eager to implement those instead. She’s a Manifestor so that approach of “throwing the spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks” is correct for her.

But he admitted to feeling exhausted from trying to keep up with her ideas. It was like he had whiplash from the speed of her frequent changes in direction! And it was a source of friction and frustration for both of them.

When we discussed the dynamics between their different Types and Strategies, they realized that he could simply wait until some of her ideas “stuck to the wall” before he began implementing. And she agreed to “invite” him to implement when she felt good about really pursuing a particular idea.

They were so excited (and grateful) to have a clear and sensible solution to their issue. It honored and respected their respective Strategies. And above all, the solution felt inherently right to both of them.

Human Design TYPES in Relationships: Projectors

Do You Feel Managed By Someone In Your Life?

We have an instinctive resistance when it feels like someone is trying to manage or control us without our request or permission. Even if what they are saying is brilliant and exactly what we need to hear, we usually won’t listen if it feels pushed at us.

Chances are…. that person who is trying to “manage” you is a Projector. They mean well, they’re just not using their energy correctly.

Understanding the dynamics of this situation can help us:

  • Hear—and benefit from—what’s being offered (if you’re the recipient)
  • Learn the correct approach and timing (if you’re the Projector)

Introducing This Series

Human Design gives us deeply insightful knowledge about the nature of WHO we are and HOW we behave as human beings.

Your personal Human Design chart (get your free Human Design chart here) helps you understand the energy dynamics and personality characteristics of YOU.

Human Design also helps you understand the other people around you and the nature of YOUR relationship with them.

This makes possible the achievement of supportive, fulfilling,
and constructive relationships in every area of your life.
And in every relationship in your life!

Doesn’t THAT sound awesome!

This series of articles about “Human Design TYPES in Relationships” will help you move forward along this most noble and worthy path.  😉

Today’s article explores how the PROJECTOR TYPE interacts with OTHER TYPES.

Quick Refresher on Human Design TYPES

There are five TYPES of people in Human Design. Type is determined by which Energy Centers (geometrical shapes on your Human Design Chart) are colored in and how they are connected to each other. In other words, your Type reflects your personal energy configuration. Type is usually indicated in writing on a Chart.

Each TYPE has a Role to play in life and has a particular decision-making and action-taking Strategy that is the best and most correct way for that TYPE to operate in life.

Here is a very brief description of the TYPES and their Roles and Strategies:

Manifestor – approximately 8% of the population

  • Role: to initiate action from ideas
  • Strategy: inform everyone in your “impact field” before you take action

Generator – approximately 37% of the population

  • Role:  to find the right work and the right partner in life
  • Strategy:  wait to respond with your Sacral energy before you take action

Manifesting Generator – approximately 33% of the population

  • Role:  to find the right work and the right partner in life (and to find the fastest way to do things)
  • Strategy:  wait to respond with your Sacral energy then inform everyone in your “impact field” before you take action

Projector – approximately 21% of the population

  • Role:  to manage, guide and direct the energies of others
  • Strategy:  wait to be invited into life’s big decisions (love, marriage, career, where you live), and wait to be asked or recognized before sharing your wisdom

Reflector – less than 1% of the population

  • Role:  to reflect the health of our communities back to us
  • Strategy:  wait 29 days (full lunar cycle) for clarity before you take action

The PROJECTOR in Relationships

While the natural role (and instinct) of the Projector is to “manage, guide and direct others,” the Projector can only do so effectively when those others want to be managed, guided and directed!

As mentioned at the beginning of this article, most people don’t like to be given advice or told what to do if they haven’t first asked for that advice or guidance.

Projectors who are not using their energy—and their inherent wisdom—correctly are often perceived as:

  • Pushy
  • Bossy
  • Nosy
  • Annoying or irritating
  • Bitter
  • Or, they are simply ignored and literally not heard when they speak.

Projectors who are using their energy CORRECTLY are respected and sought-after for their knowledge, talent, and guidance.

Some famous Projectors are:  former President Obama, Carl Sagan, Woody Allen, Steven Spielberg, Marilyn Monroe, Barbara Streisand, Liz Taylor, Lance Armstrong, Abraham Lincoln, and John F. Kennedy.

The truth is that Projectors need more attention and energy from other people than any of the other Types.

What’s a PROJECTOR To Do?

The BEST approach for a Projector is to wait to be asked or invited before sharing their advice, opinion, feedback, guidance, or direction.

When someone asks, they indicate that they want the guidance and inherent wisdom of that Projector. Even if that person is completely unaware that they are asking a Projector, that person is unconsciously reacting to the Projector’s energetic configuration. That person will then hear and appreciate the value of the Projector’s input, because they were open to receiving it.

The NEXT BEST approach for the Projector is to at least wait for some recognition and an opening to speak into. Make eye contact and wait to sense an opportunity to speak without barging into a conversation or seeming pushy or overbearing.

When using this NEXT BEST approach, the most effective way for a Projector to begin is to say something like:

  • I have some experience that may be helpful to you, would it be all right if I share it with you?
  • I have some insights about that, may I tell you about them?
  • Perhaps I could be of help, would you mind if I try?

Please vary the question to suit your circumstances and personality, but I’m sure you get the gist from these examples. Notice that each one is a Yes/No question requiring that the other person either gives you permission to speak or does not.  With their Yes response, you have a clear opening/invitation. If the response is No, it’s usually best to wait.

Projectors are of course welcome to speak without waiting for any of this, and see what happens. Human Design advocates that you listen to your own inner authority, not someone else (like me) telling you what to do. But it’s likely you’ll find that things simply work better when you have been invited or recognized first.

What Should OTHERS Do Regarding Projectors?

When you are the recipient of a Projector’s incorrect use of their energy and wisdom, it is easy to feel irritated, turned off, and even repelled. This is normal. Even Projectors can feel turned off and repelled by other Projectors!

However, you then miss the wisdom and advice that may very well benefit you.

Now that you understand a little about Projectors, the best thing YOU can do is:

  • Recognize that their intention is to be helpful
  • Recognize that they are inherently wise and usually have valuable input
  • Recognize that they are simply not using their energy correctly
  • Don’t take it personally
  • If you’re so inclined, give them some attention and energy and invite them to share their ideas with you
  • If you just want to get away from them, get out of their aura for a while and then ask for their opinion or guidance the next time you see them—before they offer it.

I welcome you to share below any success stories you have had as a Projector or as someone in relationship with a Projector.

Celebrity Charts: JFK & Jackie – Relationship Lessons?

(posted 2014/01/30)

Here is a brief look at a celebrity’s Human Design chart using just a few of many aspects and layers of a chart. Our purpose here is to give you just a partial glimpse, through Human Design, into this person’s energy dynamics.

John F. Kennedy & Jacqueline Kennedy

JFK Birth: May 29, 1917 at 3:00pm in Brookline, Massachusetts
Death: November 22, 1963 at 12:30pm in Dallas, Texas

Jackie Birth: July 28, 1929 at 2:30pm in Southampton, New York
Death: May 19, 1994 in New York, New York

John F. Kennedy

See my Celebrity Chart article and background about him here.

Jackie Kennedy

Here is an excellent brief biography of Jackie.

Their Relationship

Jackie, a young socialite from a privileged family, and JFK (Jack), an up-and-coming politician from a privileged family, ran in the same social circles in the early 1950’s. They met officially in mid-1952 and became more serious after Jack won the election to a US Senate seat that November.

Their wedding in Sept. 1953 was considered the social event of the season, with over 1200 at the reception. Despite their glamorous image, their relationship was beset with various struggles including his serious health problems and two spinal surgeries that were nearly fatal for him. She had a miscarriage and a stillbirth in 1955 and 1956. Caroline was born in 1957. Jackie became pregnant again in 1960 just after Jack began his campaign for president so she was not able to play the active role in his campaign they had both anticipated. That pregnancy and his campaign were successful, and they became one of the youngest couples to live in the White House.

As First Lady, Jackie was elegant, popular, and handled the new spotlight with grace and charm. She redecorated the White House, organized White House social events, and was skilled at interacting with foreign dignitaries (she spoke several languages fluently).

They were both private people, so the intense public nature of their relationship and family issues was probably difficult for them, and their marriage was not always smooth. There were alleged affairs on both sides, though there was also a powerful commitment to each other and some say they were considering having more children just before Jack’s assassination in 1963.
