Celebrity Chart: Judy Collins — still going strong at 78!

posted 2017/11/04

The other day I heard on the radio that Judy Collins would be performing in concert with Stephen Stills, and then doing her own concert tour after that. I was intrigued that she was still performing and touring, and wondered how old she was and what gave her such staying power… in an industry that sees so many musical artists come and go.

With the amazing tool of Human Design to help understand how she’s wired energetically, I ran her chart and also looked up some of her history.

It turns out she is 78 (almost exactly a year older than Wayne Dyer would have been), and still going strong!

Her chart gives us great clues about her sustainability, her sensitivity, and what has kept her driven all these years. [continue reading…]

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is recognized worldwide as an embodiment of peace, wisdom and compassion.

He is the 14th Dalai Lama (religious name: Tenzin Gyatso, born: Lhamo Dondrub) and the longest lived. Dalai Lamas are the head monks of the Gelug school, the newest of the schools of Tibetan Buddhism. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989, and is also well known for his lifelong advocacy for Tibetans inside and outside Tibet.

The Dalai Lama was selected at age two as the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama and began his training at age six, although he was only formally recognized as the 14th Dalai Lama on November 17, 1950, at age 15. The Gelug school’s government administered an area roughly corresponding to the Tibet Autonomous Region just as the new People’s Republic of China wished to assert central control over it. There is controversy over whether the respective governments ever reached an agreement for a joint Chinese-Tibetan administration. [continue reading…]

“Human Design TYPES in Relationships” Series: Generators

Generators: Work & Family are the Focus

Pure Generators, approximately 37% of the world’s population, are the majority of our world’s work force. While they share many characteristics with Manifesting Generators and some refer to the two as one Type, here we will look specifically at only the Pure Generators (your Human Design chart will show “Generator” as your Type), which I’ll refer to as Generators from now on.

Generators have two primary focuses in life:  work and family/mating. So they are usually immersed in relationships all their lives. It is possible for a Generator to have primarily Individual energy, in which case they might not feel they fit in with their family and friends and they may prefer to be alone much of the time. But their work force and life force energy is strong and consistent.

They are born to “respond” to everything around them, which they do quite naturally. But often those responses are subconscious and unnoticed.

Human Design shows Generators that they have an amazing internal guidance system—their Sacral Energy Center—that responds to everything around them. It’s the red square on their Chart, and only Generators and Manifesting Generators have it. All other Types have a white (“Open”) Sacral Center (second square up from the bottom of the chart).

          About This Series

Human Design gives us deeply insightful knowledge about the nature of WHO we are and HOW we behave as human beings.

This makes possible the achievement of supportive, fulfilling,
and constructive relationships in every area of your life.
And in every relationship in your life!

Quick Spotlight: Two Different Decision-Making Styles

Recently, two clients asked for a Relationship Reading so they could deepen their friendship and improve how they support each other in their respective businesses. They are both lightworker entrepreneurs and have been best friends for years.

They had each had a Personal Reading with me, so they were ready to dive into the details of the energetic dynamics of their relationship.

Among the many profoundly useful things they learned, understanding the specific ways in which their respective decision-making processes are different was significantly valuable to them.

One is a Generator, the other a Manifesting Generator. So at first glance we might assume that their decision-making styles would be similar. They both have a Defined Sacral Center and need to wait for their Sacral response to know if something is right for them.

However, the Generator is emotionally defined (her Emotional Solar Plexus Center is colored in) so she must wait through her emotional wave and note her Sacral response at various points on her wave before she can make a correct decision for herself. This slows her down and gives her a deliberate and somewhat emotional way of arriving at her decisions.

The Manifesting Generator is emotionally open (her Emotional Solar Plexus Center is white) so her Sacral response in the moment is her immediate answer for the decision. She is designed to make quick decisions. Plus she has a Defined Spleen Center so she has powerful intuitive awareness in the moment in addition to her Sacral response. And, she’s a Manifesting Generator so she is wired to move fast, think fast, choose fast. She is a speedy and sure decision-maker.

It had been a source of frustration for both of them that their decision processes seemed to be so different… but they didn’t really understand why or what to do.

Now they completely see the underlying dynamics and know that the best way to help each other is to honor and support each of their respective decision-making processes. We also worked on their Yes/No questioning so each can help the other access their Sacral response through asking targeted Sacral questions.

See my Celebrity Chart article and background about him here.

Jackie Kennedy

Here is an excellent brief biography of Jackie.

Their Relationship

Jackie, a young socialite from a privileged family, and JFK (Jack), an up-and-coming politician from a privileged family, ran in the same social circles in the early 1950’s. They met officially in mid-1952 and became more serious after Jack won the election to a US Senate seat that November.

Their wedding in Sept. 1953 was considered the social event of the season, with over 1200 at the reception. Despite their glamorous image, their relationship was beset with various struggles including his serious health problems and two spinal surgeries that were nearly fatal for him. She had a miscarriage and a stillbirth in 1955 and 1956. Caroline was born in 1957. Jackie became pregnant again in 1960 just after Jack began his campaign for president so she was not able to play the active role in his campaign they had both anticipated. That pregnancy and his campaign were successful, and they became one of the youngest couples to live in the White House.

As First Lady, Jackie was elegant, popular, and handled the new spotlight with grace and charm. She redecorated the White House, organized White House social events, and was skilled at interacting with foreign dignitaries (she spoke several languages fluently).

They were both private people, so the intense public nature of their relationship and family issues was probably difficult for them, and their marriage was not always smooth. There were alleged affairs on both sides, though there was also a powerful commitment to each other and some say they were considering having more children just before Jack’s assassination in 1963.

Quick Spotlight: Use Sacral Response to Improve Your Game?

The sister of one of my clients was intrigued by what that client had learned about herself, her husband, and their relationship during their series of Readings.

So the sister, a Manifesting Generator, (who has not had a Reading with me) set about learning what she could from available books on Human Design and from my Success By TYPE Self-Study Course for Manifesting Generators.

She recently sent me an email describing how she has been using her Sacral response to help her improve her tennis game. She’s a pretty serious player.

It’s such a cool and effective use of Sacral guidance that I wanted to share about it!

When she’s serving the ball, she asks her Sacral if she should serve wide (nope, uhn-uhn) or down the tee (yup, uh-huh) then she follows that guidance. She wrote, “What I noticed is if I listen to my sacral it’s always right in ways my brain can’t figure.”

Even when her brain questions the choice (because it’s not “logical”), if she follows her Sacral response it seems to work out. And she’s been winning!

She says it’s a little tougher when the ball is coming at her, because it comes so fast, but maybe that’s when following Sacral is actually easier because the brain doesn’t have time to “think” or get in the way.

So if YOU are Generator or Manifesting Generator, I encourage you to see where you might try applying your Sacral responses in your life. The results may surprise you…in a really positive way!

And please let me know about your experiences and your feedback.

Quick Spotlight: Using Sacral Responses for “Everything”

One of my clients is a Generator with a 2/5 Profile. While the 2/5 Profile itself is not common, what makes her really unusual is that all nine of her Energy Centers are Defined. (The only famous person I know of with nine Defined Centers was John Denver.)9-Center Chart2

This means she is here to make an impact on others. All of her centers are broadcasting energy “out.” She has no center where she is taking energy “in” from other people.

She’s not completely immune to conditioning, however, because she of course has Gates and Channels that are Open where she does take in others’ energy.

The reason I’m sharing her story with you is because of how she is using her Sacral responses. (The Sacral Center (red square) gives the Generator and Manifesting Generator Types guidance in the form of “un-huh” and “uhn-uhn” sounds indicating “yes” or “no.”)

Shortly after her Reading she reported that she was “enjoying playing with” her Sacral responses. She was using Sacral guidance for important decisions and choices, and sometimes to help her choose what to order in a restaurant.

During her participation in my “Master Your Strategy, Master Your Life” group coaching program after her Reading, she shared with us how her use of Sacral guidance was evolving.

She said she had started using it for “nearly everything.”  She now makes her grocery list using her Sacral responses. She decides when and what to eat using her Sacral. She shared that she had eaten some very weird dinners lately, but that they were healthy and satisfying!

Following Sacral guidance–without judgement–is the key for Generators and Manifesting Generators to live a truly Authentic life… one that is completely correct for their personal energy. (Though if you have Emotional Authority–check the bottom of your chart–wait through your emotional wave to gain further clarity about your Sacral responses on important decisions.)

If you’d like to learn more about what it’s like to completely follow Sacral guidance, I recommend Mary Ann Winiger’s book, A Revolution of One. It’s her story (she’s a Generator) of completely turning her life into an experiment in living according to her Sacral responses. It’s available here.

Health Indicators in Your Chart – Part 1: The Five Types

Use Your Human Design Chart to Help You Stay Healthy and Vibrant – Introduction

There is no shortage of theories and advice for addressing health issues and challenges, and for attempting to maximize our well-being.

Here is a very different approach:  use your Human Design Chart!

[When you’ve read this article (Part 1),
Click here to read Part 2 about the Nine Centers
Click here to read Part 3 about Significant Gates and Channels ]

Your Human Design Chart contains information about the energy configuration you carry—it shows the energetic structure you were born with. (Click here if you don’t have your Chart yet.)

This set of energies interacts within you, influencing your behavior and your ability to handle stress and pressure, and determining the most effective way for you to operate in the world.

Your set of energies also interacts with the people around you, influencing them and being influenced by them.

Evelyn's ChartThe energies you carry (your “definition”) are colored in on your chart. These are energies you experience consistently and broadcast out to the world.

The Centers, gates and channels that are white (your “openness” ) are areas where you take in the energy of others. The inconsistency and intensity of these open areas can be confusing and overwhelming, but our openness is also our greatest source of wisdom in life. This wisdom comes from experiencing the full range of human expression in each area where we are open.

How Your Chart Affects You
