Series: Voices of the Throat #6 – Gate 12 “I Act” or “I Know I Can Try”

by Evelyn Levenson

This series explains the energy of each Gate around the Throat Center so you will know how to communicate effectively and authentically as YOU. For each gate, we’ll cover the circuitry of the gate, its gifts and challenges, its “voice,” and practical ways to apply this information. The Introduction to this series can be found here. Links to the rest of this series are at the end of this post.

Circuitry:

Every gate energy belongs to particular circuitry within the chart, which is like an electrical circuit board. This circuitry shows the evolutionary role of the gate energy and how the energy moves through the chart.

Circuitry of this Gate:

Circuit Group: Individual
The Individual Circuit Group serves the world by bringing forth uniquely individual change (mutation) which indirectly empowers others to transform.  It is personal energy, here to follow its own direction and not fit in with others.

Circuit: Knowing
The Knowing Circuit energies are agents of the creative process that drives human growth and evolution.  These energies understand the world by simply “knowing,” not based on logic or experience.

High Expression of this Gate:

If you have the Gate 12 defined in your chart, you can be exceptionally articulate when the timing and mood are just right. You have an inner knowing of what to say and how to say it to maximize your impact on those around you and on the world at large!

This is a gate of creative and expressive energy that wants to uplift others and transform our social norms and the ways we interact with each other.  You are a natural for creating poetry, music, art, romance, and drama (both theatrical and personal), and for connecting with people at a passionate and emotional level.

You can be naturally cautious, which helps you to wait for the right timing and filter what you communicate.  Also, the tone and vibration of your voice itself convey more than your actual words.

You may find that you can directly access higher consciousness and allow that flow of wisdom and knowledge into your awareness.  You can also be surprisingly impactful by simply being silent.

Low Expression of this Gate:

In the low expression, you may step into (or be dragged into!) social situations when your mood isn’t correct for interacting, and then your transformational impact on others will miss the mark.

You may feel somewhat traumatized from the experience of sharing when the timing wasn’t correct and having felt rejected or dismissed.  Then you may be overly cautious about speaking up again, leaving you at a “standstill.”

Though not necessarily a low expression, your energy from the Gate 12 can flip from shy to bold and back again, depending on your mood and your perception of how you are being received.

While there is a social aspect of expressing yourself to others, this gate energy is not consistently sociable.  It is, after all, “Individual” energy and prone to bouts of melancholy and withdrawing from others.

Your Voice with this Gate:

This gate uses the words, “I act…” or “I know I can try.

If you have this gate defined, it’s appropriate for you to say these words often. The “knowing” in “knowing you can try” comes from the inner knowingness of this gate’s underlying circuitry.

However, the voice of “I act” can be misleading.  The Throat Center is not a motor and has no inherent energy for “acting.”  Only when the Gate 22 is also defined does the channel become complete and the Solar Plexus Center’s motor energy flow through Gate 12 to the Throat—transforming Gate 12 into an energy capable of manifesting action in the world.

Tips for Using this Energy:

-Pay attention to your mood and the mood in the room before expressing yourself.  If you are not in a social mood, probably best to stay home!

-Practice waiting for the right timing, which you will perceive through your Strategy and Authority and which is mostly felt in your body—not determined from your mind.

-You may not be clear about what you are feeling in any given moment (unless you also have the Gate 22 defined), so give yourself time to sort out what to say before you say it.

-Recognize that your vocal tone has more impact than your words, so be aware and deliberate about HOW you speak, and wait for your inner knowing.  Allow the right tone and words to emerge at the right time.

Next gate moving clockwise around the Throat Center:

Gate 45, with the Voice “I have.”  If your Gate 45 is defined, start noticing how often you say this or say, “I don’t have…”
