Circuitry
Every gate energy belongs to particular circuitry within the chart, which is like an electrical circuit board. This circuitry shows the evolutionary role of the gate energy and how the energy moves through the chart. Each Circuit Group has two Circuits within it.
Circuitry of this Gate
Circuit Group: Tribal
The Tribal Circuit Group is concerned with survival of the tribe. It provides support and protection for family and community and transforms individual ambition into teamwork. This is group energy in which the good of the tribe/family comes first.
Circuit: Ego
The Ego Circuit energies govern the structure of how we function in groups, including laws, values, business agreements, marriage, families, communities, and management of resources. It contains emotion, but no logic (that’s in the Collective Logic circuitry).
High Expression of this Gate
If you have the Gate 26 defined in your chart, you are here to influence and persuade others by transmitting what you believe will improve their lives. You can “sell the dream” and then “close the deal” as the ultimate salesperson.
Your influence can truly benefit others when you share from integrity and from an honest desire to be of service.
Your ego likes recognition and rewards for your efforts, but at a practical level you must be recognized by others in order to have real influence with them. So, building trust ultimately serves everyone.
At the mastery level, you are able to squeeze maximum rewards for yourself from minimum effort which helps you to balance work and rest in your life. The shortcuts you discover ultimately benefit the tribe, but first they benefit you.
Low Expression of this Gate
In the low expression, this energy is called the Trickster because it can manipulate the truth for self-serving purposes. This could include exaggerating, omitting or modifying facts, re-writing bits of history, and even outright lies.
If your ego is power hungry, you will exert your influence for your own goals and demand rewards for your skills and effort.
Only make promises that you know you can keep, or else your reputation and integrity will suffer.
Ego Impact of this Gate
From an ego perspective, your impact is pure “influence” and this influence truly can guide people to a better life! Pay attention to what is specifically motivating your desire to influence.
Even though this energy has potentially self-serving and egotistical expressions, it is still tribal and someone with the Gate 26 defined wants to be a contribution to the good of the group, improving the support, protection, and even survival of the tribe.
Tips for Using this Energy
-Be sure to keep a healthy work-rest balance in your life.
-Get clear about your goals and intentions. Your greatest ability to serve and influence comes from your integrity and from speaking the truth.
-Find ideas, products, people, and beliefs that you know in your heart are helpful to others, and “sell” them with all your persuasive skills.
-You may be a natural at selling, but you might be even more effective if you deliberately hone your skills.
Next gate moving clockwise around the Will Center:
Gate 51, has the ego impact of “competing.” If your Gate 51 is defined, start noticing how often you have the impulse to be first or best at something, or even to compete with yourself and measure your improvement.
Your series are always so helpful – thank you for all the work you do. I’m also a projector with only the root and spleen defined with no completed circuits as I understand them. I was wondering if having a defined gate 44 (the other end of the gate 26 channel) has an impact on gate 26. My gate 26 is undefined, but gate 42 is in black.

Hi Evelyn,
Your article really spoke to me here. I remember the first HumanDesign reading I ever received I was told by the person reading the chart that I was a sales person and manipulative. There was no understanding of the higher expression of this gate. It really bothered me. The importance of having the first HumanDesign reading with someone who is coming from a “no ego” place is so important.
So my question is if someone has the 44 defined and 26 how does that influence the 26? Is there a way to operate that is not manipulative when dealing with this channel?
For myself I’m highly motivated and work for the family or the group I’m involved with but when transmitting to the masses who don’t yet understand the benefit of what is being offered how does one speak to that potential tribe member without manipulation?

I think the fact that you’re aware that manipulation is a possibility and that you don’t want to do that is a good place to start. I think manipulation is about trying hard to make someone do what you want them to do, rather than offering them information and allowing them to respond in their own way. I’m pretty sure you’re not a manipulator. 🙂 I’m interested to hear what Evelyn has to offer on this as well. Thanks for asking such a well thought out question.

Our Human Design chart provides a blueprint of our innate tendencies and a road map pointing us toward our highest fulfillment. So a reading that doesn’t acknowledge the higher expressions of our chart is so incomplete! The 26-44 Channel is about communication and transmission, ideally for making a difference and presenting a win-win solution for the benefit of all. And that may include an innovation that the “potential tribe member” hasn’t understood yet. The highest expression of the Gate 26 includes integrity, so use that as a benchmark for whether your “pitch” is for your personal gain alone, or for the good of all.
