Series: Voices of the Throat #10 – Gate 31 “I Lead”

by Evelyn Levenson

This series explains the energy of each Gate around the Throat Center so you will know how to communicate effectively and authentically as YOU. For each gate, we’ll cover the circuitry of the gate, its gifts and challenges, its “voice,” and practical ways to apply this information. The Introduction to this series can be found here. Links to the rest of this series are at the end of this post.

Circuitry:

Every gate energy belongs to particular circuitry within the chart, which is like an electrical circuit board. This circuitry shows the evolutionary role of the gate energy and how the energy moves through the chart.

Circuitry of this Gate:

Circuit Group: Collective

The Collective Circuit Group serves the greater good and our collective values. It shares information, opinions, experiences, solutions. It is not personal.

Circuit: Understanding/Logic

The Logic Circuit energies use patterns to understand our world and predict future outcomes.

High Expression of this Gate:

If you have the Gate 31 defined in your chart, you are here to influence and lead others via the democratic mechanism of the support of the majority.  This energy represents the highest form of human interaction:  democracy, where each person in the group has a voice and a vote, and the majority rules.

You represent the needs and desires of the group and serve on their behalf.  You wield power by being granted it (via election or appointment), but to lead effectively you need to earn the trust and cooperative will of the group.

You grasp the patterns and trends that affect the collective and hold a vision for moving people into a better future.  Though this energy can have negative consequences, it’s most often applied to benefit the greater good.

Rather than doing FOR others, you guide them to achieve their goals for themselves.  You have a keen awareness of the needs and interests of the group and how best to serve them.  You are not a dictator or in pursuit of your own agenda.

Low Expression of this Gate:

In the low expression, you may lead others in less-than-ideal (or even disastrous) directions—whether intentional or not.  If not in touch with what they really want and need, you can easily misguide them.

Being in the Logic Circuity, the Gate 31 energy relies on patterns and logical processes but those can change as progress marches forward and new knowledge is gained.  So you must continually keep your ear to the ground, adapt as things change, and keep honing your leadership skills.

This is a projected gate energy and, like all projected energy, must wait for recognition and right timing to express its leadership and influence.  If you’re not invited to lead under the right circumstances, you may struggle to be effective.

There is also a low expression of trying to cling to power and losing sight of the original impulse to be of service for the greater good.

Your Voice with this Gate:

This gate uses words that imply that, “I lead.”  You have a natural leadership style though you’re not necessarily a formal leader (i.e., elected official).  You are often granted leadership or influencing roles in whatever group you are participating.

Tips for Using this Energy:

-Allow leadership opportunities and positions of influence to come to you, then use your Strategy and Authority to know whether to accept or decline.  Don’t chase these opportunities, but don’t shy away from them when they show up.

-Focus on being of service, even if you don’t always get credit for it.

-Share power and listen to what people want; don’t assume you know.

-Don’t get drawn into working on people’s goals for them; guide and empower them to accomplish them on their own.

Next gate moving clockwise around the Throat Center:

Gate 20, with the Voice “I am now.”  If your Gate 20 is defined, start noticing how often you are focused in the present moment with no thought about the past or the future.
