Celebrity Chart: Nikola Tesla – forgotten genius

Here is a brief look at a celebrity’s Human Design chart using just a few of many aspects and layers of a chart. Our purpose here is to give you just a partial glimpse, through Human Design, into this person’s energy dynamics.

Nikola Tesla

Birth: July 10, 1856 at around midnight, in Smiljan, Yugoslavia (now Croatia)

Death: January 7, 1943

Background

Nikola TeslaThis tall (6ft2), skinny (148 lbs) genius inventor and engineer pioneered some of the world’s most important inventions. His tireless work on the Alternating Current electrical system in the late 1880’s gave us our US power system, which then became the standard for electricity across the globe.

He held 300 patents from 26 countries and was also a poet, philosopher, lover of fine music, food and wine, and a linguist (he spoke 8 languages).

Although I found conflicting birth times for him, biographical accounts of his birth at the stroke of midnight during an electrical storm led me to simply choose midnight for creating his Human Design chart.

The prophetic message of an electrical storm producing an electrical engineering genius has not gone unnoticed by the world!

His Youth

  • He was the 4th of 5 children born to a Serbian Orthodox priest father and a mother who was clever at making tools and electrical appliances and who had a remarkable memory.
  • He credits his mother for his inherited photographic memory and inventiveness.
  • He was deeply influenced by a math teacher in our equivalent of high school; he finished in 3 years instead of 4, and was able to do complex integral calculus in his head (leading his teachers to suspect he was cheating).
  • He contracted cholera after graduation, was near death several times, and remained prone to illness the rest of his life.
  • Although he began his technical university schooling brilliantly, by his 3rd year he had lost his scholarships, began gambling, and never finished school.
  • He drifted a while, did draftsman work, had a nervous breakdown, moved to Prague and eventually went to Budapest where he became chief electrician for a telegraph company.

His Work

  • In 1882 (age 26) he began working for the Continental Edison Company in France, where he designed and made improvements to electrical equipment.
  • In 1884 he moved to New York City and began working for Edison Machine Works. He developed significant improvements to their motors and generators, but quit over a misunderstanding about compensation for that work.
  • In 1886 he formed his own company, Tesla Electric Light and Manufacturing, received his first US patents, but disagreed with his investors who fired him and left him penniless.
  • In 1887 he started the Tesla Electric Company with the backing of a Western Union director. There he invented an Alternating Current induction motor (which many individuals and companies were also working on) and was paid handsomely as consultant to Westinghouse for a brief time. He also worked on wireless energy transmission and patented his now-famous Tesla coil (still used in radio technology today).
  • In the “war of the currents” (alternating vs. direct), both Edison and Westinghouse nearly went bankrupt and Tesla ended up selling 40 of his important patents to Westinghouse in lieu of the far more lucrative original royalties agreement he held.
  • He went on to work on x-rays, radio waves, wireless telecommunications and wireless power transmissions, high-voltage “lightening” experiments, bladeless turbine engines, a steam-powered mechanical oscillator, a hydroelectric power plant, in 1928 the invention of a bi-plane that could take off vertically, and later a “death ray” particle gun!

Cool & Weird Stuff About Him

  • At age 35 Tesla became a naturalized US citizen–something he valued more than all the scientific recognition he had received.
  • In the early 1890’s he was investigating the possibility of harvesting energy in space. Wow!
  • He wrote books and articles for magazines and journals, and many of his writings are now available for free on the Internet.
  • “Tesla related in his autobiography that he experienced detailed moments of inspiration. During his early life, Tesla was stricken with illness time and time again. He suffered a peculiar affliction in which blinding flashes of light would appear before his eyes, often accompanied by visions. Often, the visions were linked to a word or idea he might have come across; at other times they would provide the solution to a particular problem he had encountered. Just by hearing the name of an item, he would be able to envision it in realistic detail. Tesla would visualize an invention in his mind with extreme precision, including all dimensions, before moving to the construction stage, a technique sometimes known as picture thinking. He typically did not make drawings by hand but worked from memory.” [from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_Tesla]
  • He claimed to sleep only 2 hours per night, nap only occasionally, and usually walked 8-10 miles per day for exercise.
  • He consistently had money issues, going from broke to rich to broke many times.
  • He could be quite critical of others, especially their weight and clothing.
  • He lived alone (usually in NYC hotels), was a stylish dresser, never married, and was probably OCD (obsessive-compulsive) in later years.
  • He died at 86, alone, impoverished and in debt, his remarkable work largely ignored.
  • He has since been recognized for his genius and his contributions to electrical power generation and so much more, with books, films, awards, statues, a Tesla Memorial Society and a museum.

His Chart

Tesla’s chart is a great example of chart energies expressing themselves. We can clearly see his driving energies and ambitions throughout his chart.

  1. Thanks for bringing your interesting information on this man forward.

Perhaps an important point to be brought forward is, with his 54 he might have been an example for us all, of a person who was on the highest levels, learning to work with Kundalini energy for his own physical alchemy for ascension (accounting for the early psychological and nervous disorders) and his taming of the gross currents within his own body into more refined ones

  2. Thanks for doing this chart. I have been interested in Tesla for forty years.

I really enjoy learning from you; your teaching style and voice resonate with me.

Thank you for all that you do. Blessings, Jeana

  3. Thank you for this chart……I went on an adventure in my mind & have another person that came to mind to run a chart on; his name is–Elon Musk…..he has invented (2)
totally electric cars under the Name TESLA. He also ( when you read about him is almost in some ways just like Tesla….although he just re-married a younger woman 26–( along with his 5 young sons )-he I think isn’t yet 50 ) I LOVE reading all your posts & can’t imagine the time that you invest……Thank you for ALL that you do & ALL that you are to us that follow you & also to the world !!! Peace & love georgine

  4. That was very inspiring. Thank you so much! I learned a lot. Love these practical and insightful readings.

  5. That was very interesting. Thank you Evelyn. Tesla has a fascinating energy about him, even years after his death!! I didn’t realize he struggled so much throughout his whole life.

  6. This was great. We have a monument of him at the brink of the Falls. Such a amazing man. Elon Musk would be great to hear his chart. 🙂
