Scared, Angry, Exhausted? This one’s for YOU!

With the turbulence and stress of the world right now, it is easy to get sucked into that chaos and lose connection with your heart and who you truly are.

That happens to me occasionally, I must admit. Recently, I felt SO angry after reading a news article, that I blasted something out on Facebook and stalked around fuming for most of the day.

Anger is not a usual feeling or expression for me. As a Projector, I’m more likely to go into resentment or simply ignore something to protect my energy. But this was pure, powerful, reactive anger.

This is not to say that anger is bad. Whatever we feel is valid because that is what we’re feeling. But we’re often not connected to how that surface feeling actually makes us feel deep inside. And we may not be aware of the impact that our feelings and related actions have on us, and on others.

You already know about energy… Human Design describes the energetic structure we were born with. The energies of the transits affect us every moment of every day. The gate and channel energies of people around us intersect with our own gate and channel energies and produce a “composite” of our energies together.

Our surface energies (our moods, reactions and feelings) affect our personal baseline frequency of energy, and our baseline in turn affects our actions and reactions. We may not have much control over what’s happening in the world or even what happens to us personally.

But we DO have control over our baseline frequency. Another way to look at this is to think of it as your MINDSET.

Your mindset is related to these classic questions: Do you see the glass half full, or half empty? Do you expect good things to happen, or bad things? Do you find the blessings and silver linings in the challenges you encounter, or do you feel like a victim and blame others (or yourself).

One of the powerful lessons I’ve learned from well over a decade of working with Human Design is that we have FAR more control over our mindset—our baseline—than we think we do.

Our mindset is far more of a CHOICE than we realize.

When we are deliberate in our choice of how we view and interpret the world, we can consciously affect our baseline. We can deliberately raise the vibration of the core of who we are, which then affects everything we think, feel, say, and do.

A dear friend recently shared with me a mantra she has been using that helps her to be conscious and deliberate. When she’s feeling stressed, reactive, or off-kilter, she says to herself: I can choose peace instead of this.

I’ve been finding this so helpful that I wanted to share it with you. When I feel riled up about what’s going on in the world, I now use that mantra. It helps me balance and calm myself.

Feel free to substitute whatever choice YOU want to make. My friend is a Manifestor so it makes sense that choosing peace would resonate with her.

From a purely Human Design point of view, a Generator or Manifesting Generator would choose satisfaction, a Projector would choose success, a Reflector would choose surprise and delight.

But you can also choose what feels right for you and your circumstance. Another friend who often feels a deep sadness inside changed the mantra to: I can choose joy instead of this.

None of this is to suggest that we simply bliss-out and forget about the rest of the world. But I encourage you to pay attention to the baseline that is underneath your actions and reactions. Are you coming from peace, love and caring, or from resentment, anger or retaliation? I submit that where you are “coming from” will powerfully impact how effective you are with your words and actions.

When you’re coming from love, from understanding, from acceptance… your actions will have a different baseline frequency and a different impact on others.

“A rising tide lifts all boats.” What energy are you contributing to the tide? Is that the energy you want to see more of in the world? How are you feeling deep inside? Is that what you want more of?

The world around you may not be peaceful but you can choose inner peace and calm, which will help you navigate the outer world with better balance, greater resilience, and more effective action.

I hope this helps you to be more “at choice” in your life and your interactions with the world. Let’s fill the tide with positive energy and lift the baseline frequency of the planet… and take care of ourselves and our own baseline frequency in the process!

I choose calm instead of chaos.

I choose clarity instead of confusion.

I choose power instead of fear.

I choose peace instead of anger.



Notes from the Void: How did I get here and what do I do next?

The Void* is that space between what was and what will be. That interim time and place where you leave behind what isn’t working, but what’s next has not yet emerged. It’s a time of transition. Re-calibrating. Realigning. Allowing. Surrender.

Not the “giving up” kind of surrender. It’s the “I know I’m not in charge” surrender that gracefully allows the universe to nudge and guide.

I’ve been in the Void for two weeks as of this writing. I must say, I’m quite surprised to find myself here. It’s not the sort of thing you plan. It happens, when the time for it is right.

In reflecting on my circumstances, I see that it came about from the perfect confluence of several powerful components:

  • The turmoil in the U.S. from the pandemic, divisive politics, and especially the racial equality activism that actually strengthened in the face of more force and less listening.
  • The resultant self-awareness, introspection, and reckoning happening at individual and organizational levels all over the U.S. (and the world).
  • My reading of Charles Eisenstein’s book, The More Beautiful World That Our Hearts Know Is Possible. I’m 70% through it as of today and I highly recommend it. It’s transformative as well as uplifting.
  • My “mini-sabbatical” month of July that gave me the vital time and space to BE in this space of transition without the usual pressures of DO-ing.

This Void is a very a different experience than the rebellious feeling I sometimes get when I am pushing myself too hard. This is a feeling of free-floating. Drifting, un-tethered. Not aimless, but not connected either. Not upset. Not angry. Not depressed or despairing. Just gently adrift.

I’m sharing this with you because perhaps you’ve been there, are there now, or will be there in the future… and I want you to know that it’s actually a good place to be.

Personal growth requires leaving something behind and embracing something new. This can sometimes involve pain, resistance, a sense of loss, or a sense of being lost. And those can be scary.

How does one navigate the Void? With patience, and a willingness to be open to whatever reveals itself in the process. This is not something to rush. You need to be okay with not knowing what’s next. That’s harder for some of us than for others. If you have a 1 or a 4 in your Human Design Profile, you’re likely to be uncomfortable with being in limbo. (Those are both foundational profile lines, which like stability.) If your Gate 57 is defined, you might experience the splenic fear called fear of the future, or fear of the unknown.

Especially if you’re in the Void (and even if you’re not), pay attention to how you feel. Notice what is changing for you. Maybe what used to resonate with you no longer feels resonant. Maybe new awareness is emerging.

I recommend that you avoid setting new goals or choosing a “new direction” for your life. Those would probably be coming from your old way of being. Allow what comes next to evolve naturally and organically.

What has helped me enormously during my excursion into the Void is knowing my Human Design. I know who I am. I know why I’m here. I don’t feel lost.

In addition to knowing my Type (Projector) and Profile (1/3), the parts of my chart that give me my deepest sense of self and inner peace are my Incarnation Cross (which I call the Life Path) and my Chiron/Kiron energies (which I call the Soul Mission).

My Life Path is to restore the flow of energy (Cross of Tension). My Soul Mission is to learn to make peace with “what IS” (Gate 60) and stay in a state of wonder and awe (Gate 61). When I stray from these guideposts, I feel out of sorts and misaligned.

I find these guideposts so valuable for myself and for clients that last year I created a unique 30-minute reading called the Life Path and Soul Mission Reading that focuses exclusively on Incarnation Cross and Chiron. If this feels of interest to you, you can learn more about it here.

What I know in my bones is that I need to allow myself to be in the Void for as long as it takes.

We were made for these times . . .

My dear friend, shaman Alana Blusol, sent me this beautiful message written by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes in 2001. It touched me deeply and is so relevant for giving us hope, inspiration, and empowerment during the global and personal upheavals we face these days. I wanted to share it with you in the hope that you, too, will find these words inspiring and empowering.

Mis Estimados Queridos, My Esteemed Ones:

My friends, do not lose heart. We were made for these times.

I have heard from so many recently who are deeply and properly bewildered. They are concerned about the state of affairs in our world now. Ours is a time of almost daily astonishment and often righteous rage over the latest degradations of what matters most to civilized, visionary people.

You are right in your assessments. The lustre and hubris some have aspired to while endorsing acts so heinous against children, elders, everyday people, the poor, the unguarded, the helpless, is breathtaking. Yet, I urge you, ask you, gentle you, to please not spend your spirit dry by bewailing these difficult times. Especially do not lose hope. Most particularly because, the fact is that we were made for these times. Yes. For years, we have been learning, practicing, been in training for and just waiting to meet on this exact plain of engagement.

I grew up on the Great Lakes and recognize a seaworthy vessel when I see one. Regarding awakened souls, there have never been more able vessels in the waters than there are right now across the world. And they are fully provisioned and able to signal one another as never before in the history of humankind.

Look out over the prow; there are millions of boats of righteous souls on the waters with you. Even though your veneers may shiver from every wave in this stormy roil, I assure you that the long timbers composing your prow and rudder come from a greater forest. That long-grained lumber is known to withstand storms, to hold together, to hold its own, and to advance, regardless.

In any dark time, there is a tendency to veer toward fainting over how much is wrong or unmended in the world. Do not focus on that. There is a tendency, too, to fall into being weakened by dwelling on what is outside your reach, by what cannot yet be. Do not focus there. That is spending the wind without raising the sails.

We are needed, that is all we can know. And though we meet resistance, we more so will meet great souls who will hail us, love us and guide us, and we will know them when they appear. Didn’t you say you were a believer? Didn’t you say you pledged to listen to a voice greater? Didn’t you ask for grace? Don’t you remember that to be in grace means to submit to the voice greater?

Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach. Any small, calm thing that one soul can do to help another soul, to assist some portion of this poor suffering world, will help immensely. It is not given to us to know which acts or by whom, will cause the critical mass to tip toward an enduring good.

What is needed for dramatic change is an accumulation of acts, adding, adding to, adding more, continuing. We know that it does not take everyone on Earth to bring justice and peace, but only a small, determined group who will not give up during the first, second, or hundredth gale.

One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Soul on deck shines like gold in dark times. The light of the soul throws sparks, can send up flares, builds signal fires, causes proper matters to catch fire. To display the lantern of soul in shadowy times like these – to be fierce and to show mercy toward others; both are acts of immense bravery and greatest necessity.

Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it. If you would help to calm the tumult, this is one of the strongest things you can do.

There will always be times when you feel discouraged. I too have felt despair many times in my life, but I do not keep a chair for it. I will not entertain it. It is not allowed to eat from my plate.

The reason is this: In my uttermost bones I know something, as do you. It is that there can be no despair when you remember why you came to Earth, who you serve, and who sent you here. The good words we say and the good deeds we do are not ours. They are the words and deeds of the One who brought us here. In that spirit, I hope you will write this on your wall:

When a great ship is in harbor and moored, it is safe, there can be no doubt. But that is not what great ships are built for.

Let’s put some context around this craziness…

[written 3/20/20 about the coronavirus pandemic]

First, let me give you a virtual hug. In these days of social distancing I miss the closeness and affection of hugs and cheek kisses. (I’m half French… cheek kisses are important!)  Hugs are very healthy for us… except under these unusual circumstances.

I hope you are staying well and calm. Fear, worry, panic, anxiety, despondency all drain our immune system… just at a time when we need our immune system to stay as strong as possible.

I thought it might be helpful to put some bigger-picture context around this pandemic and the related disruptions it’s causing in life as we knew it. It’s the unknown that causes the most stress, and having some context takes a little of the uncertainty and feeling of “free fall” out of the picture.

The context I’m referring to is the 2027 Solar Plexus Mutation that Ra Uru Hu foretold.This is an evolutionary transformation for all of humanity. To keep it simple, we are shifting from a paradigm of lack, fear, and competition into a new paradigm of abundance, caring, and cooperation.

This is a BIG shift. Even the Human Design chart will be changing!

Of course, this won’t happen overnight. We won’t wake up in 2027 and suddenly everything will be peachy-keen. This transition has been in the works for hundreds of years and will continue well past 2027. But 2027 is the focal point of the shift, and it’s only seven years away.

Any big shift in society causes a LOT of push-back and turbulence before, during, and after its focal point. The abolition of slavery in the U.S. is a good example. That even caused a bloody and horrible civil war. But eventually the change was adopted and integrated into society and we rebuilt the infrastructures of life upon a new, higher platform—a more humane platform.

I invite you to keep this bigger perspective in mind as you navigate these confusing and uncertain times. Knowing that we’re actually moving toward a significant improvement in human life can help ease the fears.

What this time actually calls for is engagement, but in new ways. Yes, stay home if you don’t need to go out and practice smart hygiene and self-care until this covid-19 pandemic is under control. But even during this time we can open our hearts and watch out for each other–while keeping our physical distance. We have the blessings of smart devices, internet, email, text, and social media.

I am heartened to read how people are reaching out to neighbors and making sure everyone has food, medicines and supplies they need. The human creative impulse and the caring impulse are alive and well. People are socializing with others for cocktail hour by video conference. Much of the work and schooling around the globe are being done virtually. So many are finding innovative ways to be helpful.

We will need to invent new ways of doing business and socializing. New preparedness for crises. New dynamics for healthcare and for supporting well-being. New economic measures and new roles for governments and institutions.

We probably won’t be returning to the “normal” we knew… the normal you may be longing for at this point. But there will be a “new normal.” One that WE (you and me and everyone around us) will be crafting and forging as we move forward together.

It is up to each of us to participate in creating the world as we would like it to be. One step at a time. Peace. Compassion. Sustainable resources for all. Healthy planet, healthy people. Workable solutions. Fairness, justice, food and shelter for all. Education for all. Dignity. Respect. Cooperation. (Add your own list here.)

One of the core foundations of creating this new normal is self-awareness. Only by knowing ourselves can we make choices (and even compromises) that are correct and in alignment with our highest ideals and the intentions of our soul. Only by knowing yourself can you fully play your unique role in this transition. We are all alive during these times for a reason. You are here for a unique purpose with a personal contribution to make to the world. The better you know yourself, the better you’ll be able to fulfill your role.

Here are some suggestions for navigating these current challenges:

  • Stay calm and be as prepared as you can for the coming months of uncertainty and newness (but no hoarding!).
  • Amp up your faith in humanity and keep the big picture in mind.
  • Pay attention to the advice of experts and the directives of your government. Reducing the spread of covid-19 is paramount. Because we can carry and spread the virus without having any symptoms, honoring the guidelines for reduced socializing and gatherings, for enhanced hygiene, and for social distancing is critical for the benefit of you, your family, the healthcare system, and everyone on the planet.
  • Open your heart and reach out in appropriate ways to help those in need.
  • Continue to learn about YOU and integrate as much self-knowledge from your Human Design chart as you can.

Quick Tip: Coping with life and death…

A few years ago, over the span of a few months two people who are dear to me made their transition back to nonphysical. They “passed away” as we often say.

It was hard to watch them go downhill over the weeks that I had the privilege of being with each of them until the day they passed.

While we each have our unique Human Design that influences how we experience and interpret what happens to us and around us, there may be some aspects to coping with life (and death) that are perhaps more universal.

As I’ve reflected on these experiences, I realized that there were several things that helped me cope with the whole process… and I thought I’d share them with you with the hope and intention that they may be of help to you, too.

First, I kept my focus on one day at a time. There was (as there often is) a lot of uncertainty about whether they would “bounce back” or if this really was their last phase, and how long it would last. Walking down the halls of the nursing home every day to visit my spouse’s dad was rather depressing, quite honestly, and the thought of doing that for an unknown length of time was daunting. Only by focusing on one day at a time could I keep that uncertainty from bringing me down.

Second, I was as present to my feelings as I could be in each moment. I didn’t suppress them. But I also didn’t dwell on them. I felt them. Walking into the hospice center a few times a week for several weeks to visit my friend Judy brought back a flood of memories about my mom passing in that very same hospice center 7 years before. I knew I had to allow those feelings so I could keep moving forward. Stuffing the feelings would only cause problems later on.

Third, and this was perhaps the most powerful, I have come to believe over my 60+ years in this life so far that the death process is a good process, and actually a positive experience for the person going through it. It is, I believe, the full re-emergence back into the nonphysical/spirit realm of pure consciousness and pure positive energy.

That belief helped me have no fear for my dying dear ones. Being present for them, with no fear, helped to create a clear and calm space around them for their comfortable passing. And helped me feel clear and calm throughout the process and afterward.

Beliefs are just that… beliefs. Thoughts with no proof. But since we get to choose what we believe, I believe in choosing empowering ones. Ones that help me cope, and help me help others.

Lastly, I was aware of being there for each of them in order to be of service to them. It wasn’t about me. Being there for them, for family, and for friends, helped me stay centered and present… and not tangled up in my own head or emotions.

While certainly not easy, these two experiences were not as difficult as I thought they might be. For that, I am very grateful. As I was grateful for the time I was able to spend with each of them. Life is so precious.



Great tool for you… and it’s NOT Human Design!

I came across this “tool” several years ago and find it very useful for myself and my coaching clients, so I wanted to share it with you. It will help with your progress toward Self-Love. And most of us need all the help we can get with that!

Here’s why this tool is relevant to Self-Love:  the first key to Self-Love is SELF-AWARENESS.

While Human Design is absolutely brilliant in the self-awareness department, there are a few other tools that are also helpful.

I like this one because it is a self-assessment that you can use anytime, for any purpose, and completely tailor it for YOUR needs and desires. It also helps you track your progress and shows you visually where you are the most out of balance.

It’s often called the Life Wheel, and it consists of a simple circle divided into 8 pie wedges.

Here’s how to use it: Life Wheel

  • Write next to each section of the wheel the name of an area of your life that is important to you, e.g., Health, Family, Business/Career, Fun, Hobbies, etc.
  • Rate your satisfaction in each section of the Wheel as 1 – 10 (1 = lowest rating, 10 = highest rating) and draw your rating line across each section (see sample below)
  • Optional: Set an Intention for each section (make each one specific)
  • Choose which section(s) to work on first and improve your satisfaction there
  • Each month, rate your Wheel again; see your progress; set new intentions
  • Adapt the Wheel to adjust to your evolving priorities; you can also create a new Wheel from a specific section of this Wheel to create more detailed awareness and balance in your highest priority areas

Of course, you’ll choose your own section topics and rate yourself.

You can see that this wheel looks a little out of balance, with two scores of 5. I may want to focus on one or both of these first.  To support myself in improving my Health score, I may want to create an additional Wheel just for health, and use section topics such as Sleep, Relaxation, Nutrition, Weight Management, Exercise, Hydration, Deep Breathing, Energy/Vitality. Then I could rate myself in each of those areas and choose one or two to focus on immediately.

I think you see the simplicity, flexibility, and power of this little tool.

Article: Do You Need Permission to Love Yourself?

Do you usually feel good about yourself, or is it a rare occurrence?  Is Self-Love part of your life experience?

What would it take to give yourself permission to actually, truly, fully love yourself? Unconditionally.

I really want you to think about that. What stops you?

Are you your own worst critic?

Do you beat yourself up when you don’t live up to your own expectations?

Are your standards so high that no one could meet them consistently?

Does that simply give you an excuse to keep beating yourself up?

Or do you let yourself off the hook somewhat, but still feel like a failure?

Is that pathway of self-flagellation so well-worn in your neural synapses that it’s harder and harder to treat yourself well?

(Can you tell that I’ve been down those pathways, too?)

Isn’t it amazing that most of us don’t truly love and cherish ourselves… and that we need to consciously give ourselves permission to feel good about ourselves!

I’m not exactly sure why this is so, but I suspect it’s a combination of cultural and religious standards and beliefs.

But I’m not so interested in WHY. I’m more interested in WHAT WE DO NOW.

I can give you a simple 4-step process (see below) to get you to Self-Love, but I can’t give you the personal permission you may need to actually allow yourself to go there. Only you can do that.

But here’s what I CAN do. I can give you MY permission (and encouragement) to go there. If you won’t give yourself permission, then use mine!

Here’s why it’s so important. This is what I’ve learned about the truth of who we are as human beings:

We are ALL born lovable, valuable, and worthy. And we are born to love, value, and cherish ourselves and each other.

There is NOTHING you need to do to prove yourself. Not to others. Not to yourself. The deep soul-level of your being knows this.

Just being alive means that we are worthy of being here (or else we wouldn’t be here!).

Self-Love (or the absence of it) is the foundation on which the rest of our lives and relationships are built.

A foundation built on Self-Love is strong, resilient, and has healthy love to share with others.

A foundation built on the absence of Self-Love is painful, miserable, not resilient, and has no real love to give others.

And here’s the BEST PART:  we can shift at any moment and begin to love and accept ourselves more. It’s really just a thought away.

Giving yourself permission is nothing more than a thought. And you are inherently capable of thinking that thought!

Here is a simple 4-step process to help get you to Self-Love. It can take a day, or it can take years. But it doesn’t matter because being on this path feels good and moves you toward truly loving yourself. So take as much time as you need.

Step 1:  Know yourself. Self-knowledge is your most powerful asset. Human Design is the most brilliant tool I know to help you with this. When you understand the actual energetic dynamics that comprise YOU, it takes the guesswork, the uncertainty, and the self-doubt right out of your picture.

Step 2:  Accept yourself. Once you really KNOW Who You Are, you’ll find that you gradually accept yourself and start to make choices that enhance and align with the unique magnificence of YOU.

Step 3:  Respect yourself. Accepting is one thing, but respecting and honoring is another. It is truly the next step. And it’s only possible by accepting yourself FIRST. Then, respecting yourself follows naturally.

Step 4:  Love yourself. Once you truly respect and feel good about yourself, Self-Love will follow easily. It’s a process that continues to deepen and evolve for the rest of your life. Self-Love is not an finite end goal, it’s a way of being. It’s a life of richness, fullness, inner peace, and outer joy.

And it DOESN’T depend on your circumstances. You can be in situations you don’t like and didn’t choose. You can be in dire circumstances, financially and otherwise. You can be miserably unhappy about what’s happening… but you can STILL LOVE YOURSELF.

Self-Love does NOT depend on circumstances. So wherever you are right this minute, you can begin to love yourself more.

Pick something you really like about yourself. Anything. Take a moment to deliberately feel good about yourself for it. There. You’re on your way. If you do that at least once a day, you’ll build momentum and self-respect that will lift you up and help you shift your circumstances. It might look like magic from the outside when things begin to change but it’s really just the leveraging of energy.

Top 5 Tips for THRIVING

Here are my Top 5 Tips for THRIVING this year.  Notice I didn’t say “surviving” or “hoping this year will be better than last year.”

What I’m sharing with you goes MUCH deeper. It’s about TRANSFORMING how you “do” your life, so you can (finally) experience the fulfillment of your heart’s desires.

By putting just these 5 suggestions into practice, your year can be filled with clarity, wisdom, and positive forward momentum—propelling you toward the life you are meant to live!

Tip #1: Focus on your intentions

Try using intentions rather than specific and measurable results. An intention gives you vital “wiggle room” which allows you to practice getting consistent at something, thereby avoiding any early (and often devastating) pronouncements of failure.

For example, if you want to lose weight, stop smoking or start meditating, it means that you either:

  1. don’t know how
  2. know how, but aren’t doing it
  3. are ‘sort of’ doing it but not consistently enough for the results that you want.

In any of those cases, you need practice (which includes trial and error) to figure out what is going to work for you. Setting an intention can give you the space to make (and learn from) the necessary mistakes that are part of this process.

It also allows for multiple paths that can get you there, and makes possible end results that might be FAR BETTER than whatever specific goals and plans you might have made.

Setting an intention is a similar process to setting a goal, but the difference is…that you don’t plan exactly how to get there. You intend a clear outcome then surrender to the learning and fulfillment process.

So think about who, what, and how you really want to BE, and set an intention or two or three. You don’t want too many to start with. Just a few that really resonate with you and feel good to you. Then, let the unfolding begin! Remember, you can FINISH STRONG by starting NOW with powerful intentions!

Tip #2: Be Yourself + Love Yourself

It sounds simple enough, but of all the 5 tips I’ve found THIS to be the BIG ONE.

As individuals, we often compare ourselves to others. But it’s a mind game we just can’t win. And—just to ensure the game isn’t fair—we usually compare our worst (the stuff that only we see) with their best (the stuff only others see). No wonder we don’t feel good about ourselves!

However, while many of us struggle with discovering who we are and acting with confidence from that centered place, there is some great news:

Once you discover Who You Truly Are, it’s much easier to appreciate and even love yourself! Being a fully-expressed YOU is the best gift you can ever give yourself and your loved ones. This one habit provides the perfect structure for adding joy and confidence back into your days and embracing life on YOUR terms.

How do you get there from here?

Tip #3: Embrace Change

It’s been said that CHANGE is the only constant in life, and we can easily see major changes happening all around us, all the time. The only way to thrive in this highly-charged, fast-moving environment is to understand and embrace the changes.

As the Borg so accurately put it: “Resistance is futile.” Intelligently going with the flow is SO much easier than paddling upstream!

Human Design not only helps us to understand and embrace these monumental changes (and they are mostly changes for the BETTER!), it also acts as our anchor in this whirlwind of confusing information and conflicting perspectives.

When you stand on a sure foundation of knowing yourself, and make your decisions from deep self-awareness as well as broad understanding of the larger evolution unfolding, you’ll KNOW how to leverage these changes for the benefit of yourself and others. You will be able to consciously create healthy expansion as well as WIN-WIN everywhere in your life.

Knowing and USING the Strategy for your TYPE will allow you to stand strong, soar with new winds, and strike a balance between the two.

Tip #4: Raise Your Vibration

The only thing in life we have ANY control over is ourselves—specifically our thoughts, feelings and reactions… in other words, our energetic vibration.

Your vibration is your point of attraction, so if you want to attract positive things into your life, you must have a positive vibration. Remember, like attracts like (Law of Attraction).

When you’re complaining, unhappy, angry, etc., those energies become your vibration and what you’ll attract will be more of that (a negative downward spiral).

Raising your vibration is the single most powerful thing you can do to change the quality of your life.

But how?
Easy. For starters, follow the Human Design Strategy for your TYPE. Doing that will naturally align your energy, help you be at the right place and the right time (which makes it easier to feel good), and help you feel better about yourself overall.

With less resistance and a little positive momentum, your vibration will increase… leading to better results and more happiness… which further raises your vibration (a positive upward spiral).

Doing this will also help others—by your example and by your positive energy. One of my favorite quotes is: “A rising tide lifts all boats.” What each of us does, truly matters. We affect not only ourselves and those around us, but also the greater whole.

The other way to raise your vibration is to deliberately choose to feel good. From wherever you are, you can choose a thought, feeling or belief that will cause you feel a little bit better. From there, you can choose to feel a little better yet, etc. Don’t rush this process. Best to be deliberate and “build that muscle” for being able to raise your vibration whenever you choose!

Tip #5: Allow Others to be Themselves – without Judgment

In Tip #2, we discussed Be Yourself + Love Yourself. Once you KNOW, ACCEPT and LOVE yourself, it’s easier to KNOW, ACCEPT and LOVE others, without judgment. And when you truly love yourself and love others—AS THEY ARE—your life will improve by quantum leaps!

When you know how you are “wired” you can more easily work with your strengths, leverage your best, and minimize areas where you’re vulnerable. You will know how to be more effective, more successful, and feel more fulfilled!

When you know how others are “wired”—especially family members, spouse, children, etc.—it’s easy to be more tolerant and loving, and your relationships with them will improve noticeably.

When others are allowed to be who they are (which does not excuse bad behavior but helps all involved to understand their tendencies) and they reach for the highest expressions of their energies, their behavior tends to improve by itself… and so do their relationships!


So this wraps up my Top 5 Tips for THRIVING. Remember, I’m not looking to help you “survive” or just shoot for “better than last year.” I truly want you to THRIVE!

Quick Spotlight: Pinpointing What Holds Her Back

One of my clients is a Projector with a 2/4 Profile and every Center Defined except the Sacral and Will Centers.

So she is designed to make an impact on people and she potentially has a reasonable amount of power, provided she follows her Projector Strategy.

She is a self-proclaimed “seeker,” has studied many healing and psychological modalities, started a school in a remote rural area, learned to teach yoga, and even owned and managed a health food store, among other endeavors. She also created various courses over the years (including one on self-healing) and taught them to appreciative students. But each time she moved forward with something she began to doubt herself and, despite her successes, she never went very far with any of them.

Now in her 60’s, she is looking for what’s next to improve her life and she still wants to make a difference in the world.

As we dove into the details of her gates and channels (the Level 3 part of her Full Reading), and integrated them with what we learned from her Type, Profile, Energy Centers, Incarnation Cross and Chiron energies, her life path and purpose became quite clear and she realized she had been living it—in bits and pieces—all of her life.

She is here to hold a vision for what’s possible and to guide others, with her innovative thinking and logical processes, to bridge the gap between heaven and earth. She’s here to be a practical mystic and help people ground the esoteric questions of who we are and why we’re here with out-of-the-box thinking that empowers them to find their own answers.

So what’s been holding her back? Her chart revealed several areas of “inner conundrum” that have had her doing the stop-start, “one foot on the pedal, the other on the brake” pattern all her life.

Here are two of the major ones. With each one we explored I could feel more light bulbs flipping on in her mind and splashing clarity into her awareness and her self-understanding. The struggles, successes, and failures in her life finally made sense to her.

1) In her Moon (our Moon energies are what drive us), she has Gate 8 consciously pushing her forward to make a contribution to the world, and Gate 63 unconsciously pulling her back with self-doubt. Her Gate 48 (in Neptune) compounds this by ensuring her knowledge is comprehensive but riddling her with fears of being inadequate and not knowing enough.

In their high expressions, these Gates can work beautifully together. Gate 63 ensures that she questions and researches what she contributes to others via her Gate 8, and her Gate 48 ensures that she really knows what she’s talking about.

2) She has strong Individual channels in her chart so she’s here to be different, think outside the box, be a creative self-expression of her uniqueness, and have an inner knowing that defies logic and even defies experience. She also has powerful channels in the Understanding (Logic) Circuit of the Collective Circuitry so she’s here to care about the greater good and to use logical, linear, provable thought processes. But they haven’t been playing nicely together. Her inner knowing says, “I know this,” and her logic says, “Yeah, prove it, and if you can’t prove it, don’t say anything.”

With awareness, these two divergent perspectives can get along quite well rather than tear her apart. She can use her logical thinking and practical processes to share her inner knowing and universal awarenesses with others. Which is precisely what her Incarnation Cross says she is here to do! She is Right Angle Cross of Maya which is here to bridge the gap between the practical and the mystical.

Now that she understands these energetic dynamics going on below the surface, she can consciously make choices that support her in moving forward. She can use the Gate 63 to question ideas and answers but not let self-doubt get in her way. She can use the Gate 48 to dive deeply into information and solutions but not be stopped by the fleeting but powerful splenic fear of feeling inadequate.

And she can allow her powerful Individual and Collective energies to work together to help her fulfill her path and purpose, rather than battle with each other.

Her mind was buzzing with ideas by the time we ended the call, and she said she could feel so many doors opening.

I can’t wait to see how life unfolds for her with the new power, awareness and self-confidence she now feels. And I hope that learning about her has helped you in learning about yourself and your loved ones.
